Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Maccess handles and how. Maccess is built to keep as much as possible on your own devices — the content of your remote-control sessions is end-to-end encrypted and never readable by our servers.

1. Overview

Maccess lets you control and access your Mac from your iPhone. This policy describes what we collect and why, what we deliberately do not collect, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, we show no ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information — if you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private-relay email) to create your account. • Device and notification information — to deliver push notifications and connect your devices, we store your device's push token, an app-generated device identifier, your device's name and model, and the app version, linked to your account. • Mac information — the Maccess Helper app on your Mac shares your Mac's name, model, system version, and online status with your account so your iPhone can find and connect to it. • Purchase information — if you subscribe to Maccess Pro, we receive subscription status and Apple transaction identifiers from the App Store to unlock Pro on your account. We never see your payment details. • Usage information — we record basic connection events (when a control session starts and ends, whether it used local network or our relay, and its duration) and, for Mackie, technical usage metering (model and token counts, not the content of your messages). This helps us operate and improve the service. • Mackie conversations — see section 6.

3. What We Don't Collect

The content of your control sessions is end-to-end encrypted between your iPhone and your Mac using X25519 key agreement and ChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption. Your keystrokes, trackpad input, screen content, clipboard, Spotlight queries, file listings, and transferred files or photos are never readable by our servers — whether on your local network (where traffic doesn't touch our servers at all) or over our cloud relay (which forwards ciphertext only, and stores none of it). We use no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and no cross-app tracking of any kind.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information above to provide and improve the App: establishing secure connections to your Macs, enabling account-based remote access, delivering notifications, unlocking your subscription, preventing abuse, and responding to support requests.

5. Local vs Remote Access

Local access works directly between your iPhone and your Mac on the same network; that traffic does not pass through our servers. Remote access uses a secure relay so your devices can connect across networks — the relay forwards end-to-end encrypted data it cannot read.

6. Mackie (AI Assistant)

When you talk or type to Mackie, your request, voice audio, and conversation transcript are sent over encrypted connections to third-party AI providers to generate a response — Anthropic (Claude) for the text/command assistant and ElevenLabs for the voice assistant. ElevenLabs retains voice-conversation history associated with your account identifier as part of providing the voice service. To answer questions about your setup, Mackie is also given limited context about the Mac you are currently using, such as its name and whether it is online. These providers process this data under their own terms and privacy policies; we do not use it to build advertising profiles. Please avoid sharing information you would not want processed by an AI provider. You can use Mackie's local (on-Mac) assistant mode to keep that processing on your own Mac instead of the cloud.

7. Sign in with Apple

We use Sign in with Apple for authentication. You can choose to hide your email using Apple's private relay. We only receive the information you authorize Apple to share.

8. Third Parties

We use trusted providers to operate Maccess: Apple (sign-in, App Store purchases, push notifications), Supabase (authentication, database, and realtime relay infrastructure), Anthropic (Mackie text assistant), and ElevenLabs with LiveKit (Mackie voice assistant). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards. We do not share your data with advertisers.

9. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain account and device data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. You can remove pairings on your devices at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below.

10. Security

We use end-to-end encryption for session content, encryption in transit for all service traffic, and platform security features to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

11. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your region, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

12. Children's Privacy

Maccess is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

13. International Users

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data across borders, we take steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App.
